Notes and photos from Kathy & Bill, October 2005

Hi!
The house could not have been more perfect.
There was nothing wanting.
Sun. evenings at O'Neil's Railway Pub across the street was great fun.
The food at the Cottage Restaurant [a mile down the road] was excellent.
Our favorite activity was going out to see the dolphins on the Shannon River.

Kathy & Bill with Fungi Sculpture

We went out to see Fungi too but enjoyed the Shannon River more because they have about 100 dolphins there! Some came right up to the boat.

Scattery Island on the Shannon River

They also gave a little history of one of the abandoned islands in the bay...
They have spent a lot of money reconstructing two houses on the island.
There is a round tower and a number of churches as well.

We also enjoyed the Polar Inn in Annascaul
(the restaurant that was the home of the antarctic explorer Tom Crean).
We enjoyed watching the kite surfers at Castlegregory
and listening to the music in the Dingle Pub.

Wed. evening at A Day in a Bog was fun too.
Sheila & Seamus were wonderful. They had left flowers & food for our arrival!
We visited the Irish Dresden factory & brought home a few pieces.

Bill at the Friary in Ennis

and did a walking tour of Limerick in the footsteps of Frank McCourt,
just to mention a few things…
