Sara age 14 is the one who wrote first in the book.  “Had a wonderful Holiday!   Beds are extremely comfy!  Love the view from the front room!  Favorite outings – The Blasket Island Performed at the Siamsa Tire, amazing experience, Irish dancing was wonderful.  Inch Strand – Fantastic Beach!  So Big and Beautiful!  Even though it rained, was still fun and had a great time!

Megan age 12 wrote –Love the view from the front room.  Lovely beaches and cottage nice and cozy.  Beds are comfy.  Loved the Blasket  Island performance  - the dancing was brilliant.

Steve -    Great cottage, one of the best we’ve stayed in!  Best bits, walk along Glennahoo river, St. Mary’s Cathedral, Killarney, Inch  Strand, the Blasket Experience, Siamsa Tire – (should have gone twice).  Driving Connor Pass was interesting but views were stunning, Moll’s Gap in Killarney National Park nicely twisty.  Will be back to Killarney National Park for the walking.

June – Lovely cottage - extremely well equipped.  Nice to know that Sheila and Seamus are around for any problems or advice.  Gorgeous area to visit. Highlights for me were: pony trap ride and boat to Innisfallen Island in Killarney National Park, The Blasket Island Experience for incredibly interesting history of the islands, the beaches, Blennerville Mill and definitely the best was Oilean – Celebrating the Blasket Experience at the Siamsa Tire  National Folk  Theatre of Ireland.  A totally spell binding performance.  We will be back!

August

Daisey from No. Ireland  – Wonderful time exploring this part of our land – The Blasket visit – ferry and island – was the highlight.  Wandering the various beaches and absorbing Mt. Brandon – including Raymond’s Wake! The Phoenix (between Castlemaine and Inch) to be recommended excellent food and atmosphere. Thank you for renting us your comfortable, well-equipped bungalow- and to Sheila for your welcome.  Good luck in the new school year!

Phil and Vickey from New York

Great fun all week.  What a great view from the house! Sheila and Seamus were a delight to meet.  Be sure to get to The Railway Pub on Sunday nights for the traditional music sessions and to meet some of the locals.  Then go to Fitzgerald’s Pub which is the closest to the house to hear Sean sing.  What a great voice!  Great beach combing along the shore here. What luck, we had no rain all week – be sure to ask Sheila and Seamus for directions for the scenic road to Inch Beach.  You will love it!  Thanks again, Sheila and Seamus!

Jim and Kathy from Vermont

September 2005

The following email comes from recent guests who spent a little more than a week touring Ireland and a week staying at Irish Vacation House.

Just want you folks to know what a special time we had in Ireland. Such a very special place: the beauty, the people, the music, the sheep, the amazing history, and I could go on and on.

Touring Ireland:
We had a packed full 16 days and I don't think we could have possibly squeezed in anything more. Although the driving was awkward at first the men took turns and they soon caught on. We made out well with the B & B's and were surprised by how many that there are.

We flew into Shannon and visited Bunratty Castle

and the Cliffs of Moher the first day,

staying near Doolin for the pub music.

The next day we jogged in little horse drawn carts around the harsh landscape of the closest Aran Island,

Inisheer.

What fun and so quaint - such a different and difficult lifestyle than I ever imagined.

I bought a sweater from a woman with a small sign in her yard, we enjoyed talking with her and getting our pictures together.
